Mahasiswa Manajemen Pendidikan UNY Gelar Edukasi Kebersihan dan Praktik Cuci Tangan di SDN Caturtunggal 7

Yogyakarta — Mahasiswa Program Studi Manajemen Pendidikan UNY bekerja sama dengan SDN Caturtunggal 7 mengadakan edukasi bertema “Detektif Kuman: Temukan, Kenali, Bersihkan” pada Jumat (21/11/2025). Kegiatan ini bertujuan menumbuhkan kesadaran siswa mengenai pentingnya menjaga kebersihan diri serta mendukung pencapaian SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) dan SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).

Setelah itu, mahasiswa memandu praktik cuci tangan tujuh langkah sesuai standar WHO.

Bantul, June 2024 – The community service team of the Department of Educational Administration, Yogyakarta State University, held a Training and Mentoring activity on the Utilization of Productivity Applications and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for school administrative management. This activity was led by Dr. Cepi Safruddin Abdul Jabar, M.Pd., with the support of a team of lecturers such as Dr. Wiwik Wijayanti, M.Pd., Dr. Tina Rahmawati, S.Pd., M.Pd., Dr. Rahmania Utari, S.Pd., M.Pd., Widia Murni Wijaya, S.S.T., B.Tech., M.Pd.,. This activity also involved several students, namely Indy Pricilia Mutiara Zahrani, Ragiladi Saputra, Firmasah Putra Sejati, Muhammad Reyhan Fadhillah, and Wulan Aidinna.

This initiative was motivated by the challenges and obstacles faced by many educational staff in managing school administration, particularly those related to limited knowledge and skills in utilizing digital technology. These limitations often hinder innovation, slow data processing, and complicate comprehensive information analysis. Through the use of productivity applications and AI, administrative processes can be carried out more quickly, accurately, and efficiently, thereby improving the quality of educational services.

To address these challenges, this community service activity was designed in the form of seminars, training, and intensive mentoring. The participants, 29 educational staff from Muhammadiyah elementary schools across Bantul Regency, were equipped with an understanding of basic AI concepts, the role and challenges of AI in education, and practical applications of AI technology in school administrative work. Furthermore, participants received guidance on developing their school websites, organizing data, and creating engaging website news using artificial intelligence technology.

Held at Muhammadiyah Tamantirto Elementary School in Kasihan, Bantul, the training consisted of a seminar, practical sessions, and mentoring. In the seminar session, participants gained an understanding of the basic concepts of AI, its role and challenges in education. The practical session then equipped participants with the skills to utilize AI for administrative tasks such as data processing, document preparation, content development, and school newsletter creation. In addition, participants received intensive mentoring to develop their school website, organize data in a more structured manner, and produce engaging and informative website newsletters with the help of AI technology.

The activity was a success, as demonstrated by the participants' increased knowledge based on the pre-test and post-test results, as well as their ability to develop products resulting from the training. The chief executive, Dr. Cepi Safruddin Abdul Jabar, M.Pd., stated that digital transformation is a crucial need for schools. "The competencies of educational staff must continue to be developed so they can keep up with technological developments and improve the quality of administrative services." Through this activity, educational staff are expected to be able to integrate digital technology into their daily work, so that Muhammadiyah schools in Bantul Regency are increasingly prepared to face technological developments and improve the quality of educational services.

UNY Improves the Competence of Elementary School Library Managers in the Mantrijeron Sub-district

Yogyakarta, July 2024 - The Mantrijeron Sub-district of Yogyakarta City once again became a space for academic collaboration when a team of lecturers from the Department of Educational Administration, FIPP UNY, chaired by Dr. Slamet Lestari, S.Pd., M.Pd., consisting of Dr. Deny Setiawan Wayoi, S.E., M.Pd., Dr. Drs. Udik Budi Wibowo, M.Pd., Dr. Meilina Bustari, M.Pd., Dr. Drs. Sukirjo, M.Pd., Dr. Dra. Maria Dominika Niron, M.Pd., and also involving several students including Refiana Dwi Retno Wulandari, Moch Iqbal Januarinsyah, Rio Wahyu Nugroho, Rif'at Irfani, and Perdaning Widyanti. Within this collaborative space, a Training and Mentoring program for Elementary School Library Management was conducted on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Twenty-five elementary school library managers, ranging from teachers to educational staff, who have been given additional responsibilities in managing school libraries, participated in this activity. The training was conducted in-person, supplemented by hands-on practice, followed by two weeks of mentoring at their respective schools.

Based on the situation analysis, most elementary school libraries in Mantrijeron still face fundamental technical issues, ranging from disorganized inventory, unclassified collections, and a lack of creativity in library design, which leads to low student engagement. Through this training, participants received comprehensive materials covering reading development, inventory techniques, classification, cataloging, collection completion, and an introduction to the library automation system using the SLiMS application. The participants' enthusiasm was evident in the 100% attendance rate, interactive discussions during the training, and measurable knowledge gains through evaluations. Data showed that 60% of participants considered the materials highly relevant to their schools' needs, while 68% stated that the training was very beneficial. Visits by the community service team to participating schools revealed tangible changes, from more organized collection shelves to the introduction of simple programs to increase students' reading interest.

The community service team recommended further training to ensure library managers' competencies continue to develop in line with school needs and technological developments. Furthermore, this activity provides an opportunity for UNY to strengthen ongoing collaboration with the local government and schools in Yogyakarta City, particularly in realizing school libraries as truly "the heart of learning." With the right collaboration, libraries can become more than just a place to store books, but also a space for the growth of a new literacy culture in elementary schools.
